I have tried some of these side hustles myself, so I will be able to provide my personal experience. But I also did my research on the rest of side hustles to bring you a more comprehensive list.

So, buckle up! We’re diving into the world of freelancing, dog-walking adventures, and virtual opportunities that can transform your personal finances.

How To Make an Extra $200 a Week

1.Freelance Work Online

Venturing into the realm of online freelancing opens up a world of possibilities, and the first step is finding the right platform to showcase your talents. Platforms like Upwork, Fiverr and Freelancer  provide a diverse array of opportunities, ranging from writing and graphic design to programming and marketing.

Once you’ve chosen your platform, consider the multitude of jobs available to freelancers. Almost any kind of skill can be monetized via freelancing! Writing, editing services and graphic design are in perpetual demand, but you can now offer services from business consulting and career counseling to data entry.

To ensure success in the freelance world, crafting a nice profile is essential. Think of it as your digital resume, highlighting your skills, experience, and past projects. Setting realistic rates is equally crucial – understanding the value of your time and expertise contributes to long-term success.

In terms of earnings, the freelance landscape offers a wide spectrum. Beginners might kick off at $15-$30 per hour, gradually increasing as they gain experience and positive reviews. Seasoned professionals can command rates well over $100 per hour. I’ve even seen some people with great reviews charging close to $200 per hour.

2. Pet Services

Dive into the world of pet services to not only earn extra income but also revel in the joy of spending time with our four-legged friends. Whether you’re a dog enthusiast or a cat whisperer, there are various avenues to explore in the realm of pet care.

Start by offering your services on platforms like Rover and Wag, connecting with pet owners in need of dog walking and pet sitting. Some busy professionals are looking for people to take their dogs for a walk in the middle of the day and some other people prefer using Rover to find someone to leave their pets with when they go on vacation rather than sending them to daycare.

You can also tap into your local community by spreading the word about your pet services. Post flyers in neighborhood hubs, community boards, and local pet stores to establish a personal connection with pet owners in your area. Word of mouth can be a powerful tool in building a trusted pet care business. I actually just found a new pet sitter that was recommended by my hairstylist.

When it comes to earning potential, dog walking and pet sitting rates can vary based on location and the services you offer. On average, dog walkers may charge between $15 to $30 per walk, while pet sitting rates can range from $25 to $50 per day. As you build a reputation for reliability and care, you may find opportunities for repeat business and referrals.

3. Online Language Teaching

While nothing stops you from offering your language teaching services through general freelancing platforms, you may find better luck using platforms exclusively dedicated to these services. Platforms such as VIPKid, Teachable, and iTalki provide a virtual stage for language enthusiasts, subject matter experts, and skilled tutors.

Specializing in teaching languages online, you can connect with students seeking to enhance their language skills. Whether it’s English, Spanish, or any other language, your proficiency becomes a valuable asset. These platforms not only offer a flexible schedule but also empower you to set your rates, allowing you to earn an extra $200 a week while contributing to someone else’s educational journey.

4. Renting Out Space

Maximize the potential of your living or storage space by considering platforms like Airbnb, Vrbo, or even local classifieds. If you have a spare room, a cozy guesthouse, or even an unused parking spot, renting it out can become a lucrative and passive side hustle.

Create a welcoming profile, highlight the unique features of your space, and set competitive rates based on your location and amenities. Whether you live in a bustling city or a serene countryside, there’s always someone looking for a comfortable place to stay. Hosting guests not only opens up a new revenue stream but also provides an opportunity to meet people from different walks of life, turning your home into a welcoming haven for travelers.

Earning potential varies depending on location, amenities, and the type of space you offer. On average, hosts can earn anywhere from $50 to $200 per night.

5. Social Media Management

Step into the dynamic world of social media management and turn your knack for online engagement into a profitable venture. As businesses and individuals increasingly recognize the importance of a robust online presence, the demand for social media managers continues to soar.

Platforms like Hootsuite and Buffer empower you to schedule posts, analyze performance metrics, and engage with audiences across various social media channels. Whether you specialize in content creation, strategy development, or community management, businesses are eager to enlist the expertise of social media-savvy individuals.

Crafting a compelling profile that showcases your understanding of social media trends, creativity, and results-driven approach is key to attracting clients. As a social media manager, you can set your rates based on the scope of services offered. The potential to earn an extra $200 a week is not only achievable but scalable as you build a portfolio of successful campaigns and satisfied clients.

6. Part-Time Photography

Embrace the art of photography as a part-time endeavor. Leverage the power of social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook to showcase your portfolio and engage with potential clients.

Part-time photography spans a range of niches, from portrait sessions and event coverage to stock photography and product shoots. By diversifying your offerings, you can cater to different client needs and broaden your income streams.

The average pay per hour in part-time photography can vary based on factors such as expertise, location, and the type of photography services provided. Successful photographers often earn anywhere from $50 to $150 per hour.

7. Virtual Assistant

The demand for virtual assistants continues to surge as professionals seek support in managing their daily tasks and operations. Virtual assistants can connect with clients seeking help in areas such as email management, scheduling, data entry, and customer support. Your ability to multitask, communicate effectively, and maintain a high level of organization positions you as a valuable resource in the digital workforce.

Potential earnings can vary based on factors such as experience, skill set, and the complexity of tasks. On average, virtual assistants can earn between $15 to $30 per hour, so 10 hours of work weekly in average should put you on track to make an extra $200 a week.

8. Rent Out Your Car

If you have a car that you don’t often use, this can be a great option to make some passive income. Platforms like Turo and Getaround enable you to rent out your car to individuals in need of a vehicle. The process is simple: list your car on the platform, set your rental rates based on factors like the make and model, and specify availability.

The earning potential largely depends on your location, the type of vehicle you own, and the demand for rental cars in your area. On average, car owners can earn anywhere from $30 to $100 per day, making it a viable option for those looking to reach their $200-a-week goal.

Before embarking on this venture, ensure your car is in good condition and meets the platform’s safety and cleanliness standards. Properly vetting potential renters, maintaining open communication, and understanding the terms and insurance coverage offered by the platform are crucial steps in ensuring a smooth and profitable car-sharing experience.

9. Offer Yard Work Services

Turn your knack for gardening and yard maintenance into a fulfilling and profitable venture. Begin by spreading the word within your local community through word of mouth, flyers, or social media platforms. Many homeowners are in constant search of reliable individuals to tend to their lawns, gardens, and outdoor spaces. Position yourself as the go-to person for all things yard-related, from mowing and weeding to seasonal clean-ups.

Platforms like TaskRabbit and Thumbtack can also connect you with homeowners seeking your specific yard work expertise. Craft a compelling profile that highlights your skills, experience, and dedication to creating lush and well-maintained landscapes.

The earning potential in yard work services varies based on the complexity of tasks, the size of the yard, and your level of expertise. On average, yard service providers can earn between $20 to $50 per hour, offering a flexible and rewarding income stream.

10. Help People Move

Become the unsung hero of relocation by offering your assistance in helping people move. Hiring a traditional moving service can be expensive, so people moving locally are looking for cheaper options. Sometimes they can just need an extra hand to share some of the heavy lifting or unpacking and that could be you!

Start by promoting your services locally through community bulletin boards, online platforms like Craigslist or TaskRabbit, or word of mouth. Craft a profile that showcases your reliability, strength, and commitment to ensuring a smooth and stress-free moving experience for your clients.

Earnings in the realm of helping people move can vary based on factors such as the size of the move, the distance, and any additional services provided. On average, movers can earn anywhere from $25 to $50 per hour, making it a lucrative opportunity for those looking to contribute to a seamless relocation while boosting their income.

11. Offer Proofreading Services

Businesses and authors are constantly seeking meticulous proofreaders. Turning your keen eye for detail into a part-time endeavor can be financially lucrative. Offer your skills on freelance platforms such as Upwork or Fiverr, where clients actively seek qualified proofreaders for documents, articles, and manuscripts. Build a profile that highlights your language proficiency, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering polished and error-free content.

The average pay for proofreading services can range from $15 to $50 per hour, depending on your level of expertise and the complexity of the materials. As you build a reputation for delivering high-quality, error-free content, you may find opportunities for repeat business and referrals.

The market for unique, handcrafted items is thriving, offering a perfect opportunity to turn your creativity into a lucrative venture.

Begin by identifying your niche and creating a collection of crafts that showcase your unique style. Platforms like Etsy, Amazon Handmade, and local craft fairs provide accessible avenues to showcase and sell your creations to a global or local audience.

Leverage social media to promote your craft and with some luck you could go viral and be making way more than $200 a week. As you transform your passion into a profitable endeavor, selling crafts becomes not just a creative outlet but a fulfilling pathway to financial success.

13. Become a Coach/Tutor

Embark on a fulfilling journey as a coach or tutor, where you can share your knowledge, empower others, and earn extra income simultaneously. Whether you excel in academic subjects, sports, or specialized skills, your expertise can become a guiding light for those seeking to enhance their understanding and proficiency.

Start by identifying your areas of expertise and the subjects or skills you are passionate about teaching. Platforms like Wyzant and Chegg Tutors provide avenues to connect with students in need of personalized coaching or tutoring services.

Craft a compelling profile that highlights your qualifications, teaching style, and commitment to student success. Offering a free initial consultation or trial session can also attract potential clients by showcasing your teaching approach and building rapport.

The earning potential as a coach or tutor can vary based on factors such as your level of expertise, the subject matter, and the demand for your services. On average, coaches or tutors can earn between $20 to $50 per hour, making it a flexible and rewarding option for those passionate about education.

14. Offer Web Design Services

With businesses and individuals alike seeking an impactful online presence, offering web design services opens up a realm of opportunities to showcase your skills and generate substantial income.

Start by honing your web design skills through courses, online tutorials, or hands-on projects. Platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, or creating your own website can serve as a launchpad to showcase your portfolio and connect with clients in need of a visually stunning and user-friendly online presence.

15. Food Delivery

With the rise of on-demand food services, becoming a delivery driver offers a convenient way to earn extra income. Flexibility is a key advantage, allowing you to choose your working hours and areas of delivery. If you don’t have a car, you can even offer food delivery services with a bike or even a scooter.

Start by signing up with popular food delivery platforms like DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub. On average, delivery drivers can earn between $15 to $25 per hour, depending on factors such as location, order volume, and peak hours.

16. Focus Groups

While answering surveys online is probably not going to make you $200 a week, focus groups are a different story.

Explore online platforms such as FocusGroup.com, Respondent, or local market research agencies that connect participants with businesses seeking consumer opinions. Sign up for these platforms and complete your profile to match with relevant focus group opportunities based on your interests and demographics.

Participating in a focus group typically involves sharing your thoughts on products, services, or ideas in a structured discussion setting. Your input can influence decision-making processes for businesses, and in return, you may receive cash payments, gift cards, or other incentives.

The compensation for focus group participation varies, often ranging from $50 to $200 or more for a session, depending on the complexity and duration. In addition to monetary rewards, some focus groups offer exclusive access to new products, services, or experiences.

17. Sell Your Items

Is your place in need of some decluttering? Start a decluttering project that can also add extra cash to your wallet by selling items you no longer need. Whether it’s unused gadgets, clothing, or home decor items, various platforms make it easy to turn your pre-loved possessions into a stream of income.

Poshmark is my preferred platform to sell pre-loved items, especially clothing. This is actually one of the side hustles that make me around $200 a week. Platforms like eBay, Mercari and Facebook Marketplace, also offer accessible avenues to list and sell your items to a wide audience.

Craft compelling product listings by providing detailed descriptions, high-quality images, and competitive pricing. Transparency about the condition of the items and prompt communication with potential buyers contribute to positive selling experiences.

18. Print On Demand

Print On Demand (POD) is a very popular business model. You may have heard about it all over social media. The idea is to create designs that you can add to different items like t-shirts and mugs. But you don’t need to keep any inventory. After you make a sale, you will use a third party to print and ship the item.

Begin by creating eye-catching designs or artwork that resonate with your style or a specific niche. Platforms like Printful, Printify, and Merch by Amazon enable you to upload your designs and seamlessly integrate them into a variety of products, from T-shirts and hoodies to mugs and phone cases.

The earning potential in Print On Demand is scalable and depends on factors such as the popularity of your designs, the range of products offered, and your marketing efforts. Marketing your products through social media, blogs, or partnerships can further expand your reach. Successful POD creators can earn anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand dollars per month.

POD is actually one of the side hustles that I want to try this year. While I have been on Etsy for a while I have yet to venture in the POD world.

19. Sell Digital Products

Whether it’s e-books, online courses, or digital art, selling digital products allows you to share your expertise and creativity while generating a passive income stream.

Begin by identifying your niche and the digital product that aligns with your expertise. Platforms like Gumroad and Etsy provide an avenue to showcase and sell your digital creations.

I have been selling digital products on Etsy for just a little over 6 months and I’m already making more than $200 per week. But this is definitely not the limit, I’ve seen some stores in my niche go viral and make tens of thousands of dollars in a month.

Create high-quality digital products that offer real value to your audience. This could be in the form of e-books that share your insights, online courses that teach a skill, or digital artwork available for download. Get creative, do some research and you will find the perfect product for you to sell. Check out my list with 50 digital product ideas for some inspiration.

20. Blogging

Of course, I had to mention blogging. If you enjoy writing, blogging can offer a dynamic platform to share your voice and monetize your content.

Start by identifying your niche or the topics you are passionate about. Platforms like WordPress, Blogger, or Medium provide accessible avenues to create and publish your blog. Craft an engaging blog name, design a visually appealing site, and start sharing your unique perspective with the world.

Consistent and quality content is the cornerstone of successful blogging. I’m not gonna lie, it’s going to take you a while to start making $200 per week with blogging. If you are looking to make some extra money in the short term, I would recommend you try a different side hustle. Blogging is a marathon but it can be a great source of passive income in the long run.

Success in blogging requires dedication, a genuine passion for your chosen topics, and a commitment to providing value to your readers.

21. Mystery Shopping

Mystery shopping provides a unique way to indulge in retail therapy but also offers opportunities to earn extra income by providing valuable feedback to businesses.

Start by exploring reputable mystery shopping companies like BestMark, Market Force, or IntelliShop. Sign up and complete a profile, specifying your preferences and areas of interest. Mystery shopping opportunities can range from evaluating customer service in retail stores to assessing the quality of dining experiences in restaurants.

Once assigned a mystery shopping task, carefully follow the instructions provided. Evaluate the specified aspects of the business, such as customer service, cleanliness, or product knowledge. Document your observations in a detailed report, providing constructive feedback to help businesses enhance their operations.

Compensation for mystery shopping can include payment for your time, reimbursement for purchases, and, in some cases, additional incentives. While earnings per assignment may vary, the overall experience offers a unique way to enjoy shopping while earning extra cash.

22. Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing empowers you to earn commissions by promoting products or services and driving sales through your unique affiliate links.

Start by identifying a niche or industry that aligns with your interests and expertise. Join affiliate programs of reputable companies in that niche; these programs provide you with unique tracking links that attribute sales to your efforts.

Create content that incorporates your affiliate links naturally. This can include blog posts, social media content, videos, or email newsletters. Authenticity is key—recommend products you genuinely believe in, and your audience is more likely to trust your recommendations.

The earning potential in affiliate marketing is performance-based, with commissions typically ranging from 5% to 50% or more, depending on the product or service. Successful affiliate marketers can generate substantial income, especially if they have a loyal and engaged audience.

23. Ride Sharing

I don’t own a car, so I can’t personally talk about this. But the other day I took an Uber and it was a very nice Tesla. I was talking to the driver and he told me he was just offering rides for a couple of hours a day to pay for the car. I thought it was a great idea to make a few extra bucks a week.

As a driver, you have the chance to provide convenient transportation to others while earning extra income on your terms. Set your availability and start accepting ride requests. Whether you’re driving to a destination or have some spare time, ride-sharing offers flexibility in choosing when and where to work.

Success as a ride-sharing driver involves providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean and comfortable vehicle, and ensuring passenger safety. Positive ratings from passengers can contribute to higher visibility and more ride requests.

24. Online Content Creation

Whether you’re drawn to writing, graphic design, video production, or other forms of expression, online content creation provides diverse opportunities to showcase your talents and generate income.

Identify a niche and select a platform that aligns with your content type. For written content, platforms like Medium or WordPress may be suitable. Video creators may find success on YouTube or Tiktok, while image based content can be very successful on Instagram.

Explore various monetization avenues, including ad revenue, sponsorships, affiliate marketing, and selling digital products. Some platforms also offer membership or subscription options for exclusive content.

Experiment with different content formats to reach a wider audience. For example, a blogger could repurpose content into podcasts or videos, expanding their reach and potential income streams.

Consistency is key in online content creation. Establish a posting schedule that aligns with your capacity, ensuring a steady flow of content to keep your audience engaged.

25. Sell Stock Photos

Transform your passion for photography into a lucrative venture by selling stock photos. As businesses, marketers, and content creators consistently seek high-quality visuals, selling stock photos offers a platform to showcase your artistic talents while earning income.

Create a diverse portfolio that appeals to a wide audience. Capture images across various genres, including nature, business, technology, and lifestyle, ensuring your portfolio caters to the diverse needs of potential buyers.

Select reputable stock photo platforms to showcase and sell your images. Popular platforms include Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, and Getty Images. Each platform has its submission guidelines, so familiarize yourself with the requirements.

Learn about licensing models and royalty structures on the chosen platforms. Some platforms pay contributors per download, while others offer royalties based on subscription plans. Understanding these aspects helps you make informed decisions.

26. Remote Data Entry

Remote data entry provides an opportunity to contribute your skills to various industries while enjoying the benefits of a remote work setup. Identify platforms and companies offering remote data entry positions. Websites like Remote OK, Indeed, or specialized remote job boards often list opportunities from companies seeking skilled data entry professionals.

This is a very flexible side hustle that can be done from the comfort of your home. The average pay for data entry services in the US is around $20 per hour, which means that by spending 10 hours a week on this side hustle you could be making an extra $200 a week.

27. Remote Bookkeeping

Virtual bookkeeping involves recording, storing, and managing financial transactions for businesses from a remote location. The primary aim is to track income and expenses, enhancing a company’s overall profitability. Virtual bookkeepers provide online services, assisting with tasks like monitoring individual accounts, filing taxes, preparing financial statements, and more. This enables business owners to focus on running their businesses while benefiting from expert record-keeping with flexibility and cost savings.

To start a virtual bookkeeping side hustle, one needs essential qualifications like accounting knowledge, good math skills, and basic computer skills. If you have these skills, sign up to freelancer websites like Upwork or Flexjobs to connect with potential clients.

You should also focus on effective marketing strategies to ensure visibility and generate leads. Creating a website or guest posting can be a good idea to show your expertise. Offering free 60-minute consultations is another way to build rapport with potential clients, increasing the likelihood of them becoming paying customers.

28. Create Online Courses

Creating online courses provides an opportunity to share your knowledge, build a community, and generate income by offering valuable learning experiences.

Start by identifying your area of expertise and passion. Whether you’re skilled in a particular subject, industry, or hobby, choosing a topic you’re passionate about ensures your enthusiasm shines through in your course. Platforms like Udemy, Teachable, or Thinkific provide user-friendly interfaces for creating, marketing, and selling online courses. Research each platform’s features and choose one that suits your needs.

Don’t forget to develop a marketing strategy to promote your course. Utilize social media, email marketing, blogging, and partnerships to reach your target audience. Clearly communicate the benefits of your course and highlight what sets it apart.

29. E-book Publishing

If you like the idea of sharing your knowledge in a particular topic, but don’t really want to show your face or voice by creating an online course, you could try e-book publishing.

E-book publishing offers a dynamic avenue to share stories, insights, or expertise while generating income and establishing yourself as an author. Whether it’s fiction, non-fiction, or a how-to guide, ensure your writing is engaging, well-researched, and provides value to readers. Select a suitable e-book publishing platform such as Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Smashwords, or Draft2Digital. Each platform has its unique features, so research and choose the one that aligns with your goals and preferences.

30. Review and Recommend Products

This is one take on the content creation idea. If you love testing different Amazon products,  trying new fashion brands or the latest gadgets, you could make some extra by just giving your honest review about these products you are already using.

You could choose to share your reviews in a blog if you prefer writing or use YouTube or Tiktok if you prefer to create video content. Even if you are creating video content, you don’t have to show your face, it’s all about the product after all. Have you seen all these TikTok accounts that show different Amazon products in action? Some of them don’t even have a voiceover.

But how do you make money with this? Explore affiliate marketing opportunities by joining relevant affiliate programs. Include affiliate links in your reviews, and earn a commission for every sale generated through your unique links. Choose reputable affiliate programs that align with your niche.

Remember to disclose any partnerships, sponsorships, or affiliate relationships in your reviews. Maintaining transparency builds trust with your audience and ensures ethical and honest communication about your collaborations.
